Stop Dieting and Start Living Healthy Full Time

I was reading a fellow Bubbler’s post about how they’ve failed multiple times at dieting. Another Bubbler spoke of her seeming inability to control her eating when she thinks of dieting. I’ve read many stories like this on Bubblews and all over the internet.

I used to be obsessive about dieting, and it failed more often than it worked. A little progress would happen, then I’d fall back and regain the weight, and sometimes more. I was on a miserable roller coaster and I had to get off. The depression only messed up my body chemistry and added to the weight. I had to change, so I finally did.

I counted calories for a while, and I learned how many certain meals had. I paid attention to what I ate. I slowly shifted away from processed and junk foods. We started cooking at home. Eventually I quit counting calories and just ate healthy foods in reasonable portions. Over the course of all this I lost 30 pounds, and now I have maintained myself within a 3 pound range of my goal for several months.

My new healthier eating habits combined with yoga and other activity are keeping me healthy and in my goal weight range. I still eat things I love like lasagna and chocolate candy, I just do it in moderation. I don’t live on salad, I live on delicious foods.

Developing a healthy lifestyle and sticking to it is much better than dieting for a quick fix. You may get the weight off for a while but it will come back if you’re not eating healthy, exercising and taking care of your mental and emotional health as well. Plus, dieting almost always feels like a chore, and it’s not enjoyable. Living healthy feels good and it’s something you can build on over time. The weight will come off when you’re taking care of yourself right. You don’t need to struggle with diets and the weight gain and loss roller coaster.

Now that I have developed a healthier way of eating and started taking care of my physical, mental and emotional well-being, I’m so much happier. I don’t worry about my weight hardly at all. I know I’ll be fine as long as I keep my indulgences in check and don’t get sedentary again. I completely recommend for people to adopt a healthy way of living instead of dieting and struggling. it’s easier, more enjoyable and has greater long-term benefits.
