I’ve written a couple of articles about learning to love your body and being comfortable with having curves or being what society currently calls fat, even when you’re not actually fat. I got to thinking though, there are some naturally skinny women, and they’re given a hard time too sometimes.
It just hit me that the way I write, and the way some others write, it makes it sound like we’re anti-skinny people. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I want to make it clear that I’m not. Heavy and curvy women tend to have the hardest time in society right now, but skinny women get ragged on too, mainly by people advocating healthy body weight and loving the shape you’ve got.
The thing is, some women (and men) are naturally thin. Sometimes even the kind of thin that makes you think they’re anorexic or something. For them, it’s natural. Just like some people are designed to be fuller figured, some are designed to be slimmer.
What it really boils down to is being natural and learning to love the way nature intended you to be. I’m not anti-skinny people, I’m anti changing to fit what society tells you to be. I don’t want people going on crazy diets and insane exercise regimens or getting surgery so they can look like what some magazine or movie tells them they should look like. It’s really about being natural and healthy, whatever that means for your body type.
I believe that people need to be happy with themselves and their body should be what *they* want it to be, not what the current shallow trend wants. Love the skin you’re in, you know? That’s what it’s really all about.
